Communications Dept

The Carlisle Communications Department is responsible for receiving routine and emergency calls for service for the Carlisle Police, Fire, Ambulance, and Public Works Departments. The Department also serves the community by issuing Open Burning and Transfer Station permits, handling requests for the Dog Officer as well as many other Public Safety related functions.

Each Dispatch Professional continues their participation in a number of ongoing training programs to maintain and enhance their current certifications in various disciplines such as Enhanced-911 System Operation including modules on E-911. Silent Call Processing and TTY communication with Deaf and Hearing Impaired, as well as Emergency Medical Dispatch, CPR and Emergency Call Handling are also an integral part of training.

Also, in conjunction with the Council on Aging, the department has implemented a Telephone Reassurance System called "Are You OK?" This program allows for prearranged telephone calls to be made to subscribers who may be elderly or infirm and still live on their own. If the call is not answered, the police are dispatched to check on the subscriber.

As always, the Department greatly appreciates the support the community has provided to attain a high standard of excellence in serving the community.
