Dog Officer

The Dog Officer interprets, implements, and enforces dog registrations, the relative Massachusetts General Laws, and the Town of Carlisle rules and regulation and Bylaws. The Dog Officer investigates complaints of inappropriate dog behavior, prepares a finding, and takes corrective action against violators when required.  This may include testifying before the Board of Selectmen in cases where dog owners have refused to abide by the dog control laws. When directed by the Board, the Dog Officer removes the dog in question from the owner's control and secures the fog in the Town Dog Pound. If a dog bites a person, the Dog Officer is responsible for ensuring that the dog is kept confined in accordance with state law. The Dog Officer also ensures that dogs are properly licensed and vaccinated.

The Inspector of Animals is responsible for an annual health and safety inspection of all farm animals and their living quarters.

The Field Driver is responsible for investigating all complaints concerning horses, mules, asses, cattle, sheep, goats, swine at large or any other livestock. After investigating the complaint, the Field driver shall determine and take an appropriate course of action.
