What is the CPA surcharge on my tax bill?

CPA stands for Community Preservation Act. The money collected from the tax bill surcharge goes into a Community Preservation Fund and is used for open space protection, historic preservation, affordable housing and outdoor recreation. Carlisle voted to adopt provisions of the Massachusetts General Law regarding CPA at Town Meeting in 2001, setting a 2% surcharge and a $100,000 property value exemption.

Low income persons or low to moderate income seniors may be eligible for a CPA exemption. Please contact the Town Assessor for more information.
