[ARCHIVED] Bio-monitoring Study -Board of Health

Massachusetts Biomonitoring Study
September 26th at 7:30 pm
Town Hall (Clark Room)

The Mass. Dept. of Public Health (DPH) is conducting a statewide environmental health study to help understand baseline levels of exposure to certain environmental chemicals, such as arsenic and uranium. The study employs a technique known as biomonitoring, where levels of environmental chemicals are measured from blood and urine samples from human participants. Through this statewide Biomonitoring Massachusetts Study, DPH is trying to determine the range of levels that exist and what may be contributing to them.

The Carlisle Health Department has invited DPH to offer an informational meeting on September 26, 2018 to talk about biomonitoring, potential risk of exposure to naturally occurring uranium and arsenic in private wells, and community interest in biomonitoring services. Topics to be covered include naturally occurring uranium and arsenic (and other metals) in groundwater, interpretation of private well sampling results, and an overview of the Biomonitoring Massachusetts Study.
