Extreme Heat Advisory

[ARCHIVED] EXTREME HEAT - Weather Advisory

A heat wave is forecast for today and throughout the weekend. Carlisle Residents that are experiencing heat discomfort, or that have issues they can’t resolve with their air conditioning, are encouraged to call the Carlisle Police & Fire Dispatch business line at (978) 369-1155 at any time. The Council on Aging is another resource available on Thursday and Friday at 978-371-2895. The Gleason Library welcomes all residents who would like a place to stay cool and their hours are: Thursday until 9 pm, Friday 10 am – 5 pm, and Saturday 10 am – 1 pm.  On Sunday, the Community Room at the Carlisle Public School will be available from 12 noon – 5 pm for residents that would like to stay cool.

 

Residents are encouraged to plan for the heat wave by:

  1. Staying informed about changes in the weather, including thunderstorms that lead to power outages
  2. Preparing your home, including covering windows that receive morning or afternoon sun
  3. Checking on neighbors to ensure they have what they need to stay cool
  4. Drinking plenty of water
  5. Limiting time spent outdoors
  6. Never leaving children or pets alone in a vehicle
