Update from the Board of Selectmen
With Governor Baker’s announcement of Phase I of the Commonwealth’s opening plan, the Town of Carlisle is also taking steps toward a measured return to more normal operations. The first step will be a partial opening of Town Hall on June 1st to allow limited access to the public who need in-person services or who require documents only available at that facility. Visitors to the land use offices, planning board, conservation commission, assessors, health agent or town administrator can make appointments by phone or email to meet with those officials. The Council on Aging will also be open to meet the needs of our elderly residents. As much business as possible should continue to be conducted remotely and visits to the Town Hall should be limited to processes and procedures which require in-person visits. All visitors will be screened at the entrance in an effort to maintain the safety of the town employees and residents alike. Masks that cover the mouth and nose are required for admittance to the building. The spaces within Town Hall have been reconfigured to limit person-to-person exposure while permitting the delivery of essential services and Increased sanitation procedures have been planned. See the Town web site www.Carlislema.gov for additional information.
The Annual Town Meeting will be held on Saturday, June 20th on the plaza of the Carlisle Schools at 10:00 am. This will be a shortened meeting designed to present an FY21 operating budget and a limited number of warrants. A fall Special Town Meeting is also planned at which additional less time-sensitive warrants and any necessary budget modifications will be presented for consideration by the Town. Because the meeting is being held out of doors, rain dates of June 27 and June 28 have also been designated.
The Town election will be held on June 30th from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Town Hall. Although in-person voting will be available, residents are highly encouraged to take advantage of early or absenstee voting to limit the number of people coming to Town Hall. Applications for early or absentee voting by mail are available on the Town website at: https://www.carlislema.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2436/2020_municipal_election_early_ballot_election?bidId= or by calling the Town Clerk at (978) 369-6155.
The Board of Selectmen wants to express its appreciation to all of the town’s residents for continuing to maintain social distancing and the wearing of masks in public spaces and for your patience as we navigate through these complex and challenging times.
